Park 11: Grand Canyon National Park, AZ:  Since the North Rim was still closed for winter (until 15 May), we only made a short visit to the South Rim on this long day of travel from Zion to Las Vegas.  Although “grand” in scale, the parks in Utah were more impressive to us and more accessible by car and foot.  We dropped 5,000 feet in elevation, drove 515 miles, and crossed three state lines (UT, AZ, and NV) just for a comfortable bed, hot shower, and clean clothes!  Sunset on Vegas strip hotels from 24th floor of Marriott Grand Chateau – certainly different than the past two weeks.
